Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find a variety of common questions we get asked prior to booking an appointment with us, feel free to familiarise yourself with the process.
Will I lose control?
No — you are always aware and always in control. Hypnosis is not sleep and it’s not mind control. You can hear everything, move if you want to, and come out of hypnosis at any time. You cannot be made to do or say anything against your will.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Most people describe it as deeply relaxing — like a guided meditation or daydream. Some feel heavy, light, or floaty. Others feel completely normal but calm. There’s no “right” way to experience hypnosis.
What can hypnotherapy help with?
Hypnotherapy can help with:
- Anxiety and stress
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Weight management
- Sleep issues
- Menopause symptoms
- Fears and phobias
- Habits and behaviours
- Life transitions and performance
- Emotional healing and mindset shifts

How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your goal and your history. Some people experience big shifts in just one session, while others benefit from a short programme (typically 3–6 sessions) for deeper, lasting change. We’ll discuss this in your consultation.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes — hypnotherapy is a safe, natural, and well-established therapeutic approach. I always work at your pace and in a way that feels supportive and comfortable for your nervous system.
What if I can’t be hypnotised?
Everyone can experience hypnosis — it’s a natural state of focused attention we all enter daily (like when you’re absorbed in a book or driving). If you can follow instructions and imagine, you can be hypnotised.
Do I have to talk about everything?
No. Hypnotherapy doesn’t require you to relive painful memories or explain everything in detail. We work gently and safely, focusing on change rather than rehashing the past.
What happens in the first session?
Your first session includes:
- A discussion of your goals
- An explanation of the process
- A relaxation and hypnosis session
- Personalised suggestions for change
- Time for questions and integration
Is hypnotherapy suitable for everyone?
Hypnotherapy is suitable for most people. If you have a diagnosed mental health condition or are under medical care, we can discuss whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for you and how it can complement your existing support.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes — hypnotherapy is just as effective online, all you need is a quiet space, headphones, and a stable internet connection.
